Archive for September, 2012

I had the pleasure of working with this couple this Saturday at the ever amazing and gorgeous Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley.  Just a few sneak peek images for now… the rest will be coming soon!

I am excited to share another creation that I put together, this time for my photography booth at the Napa Wedding Show that took place at the Charles Krug Winery on September 22nd.  I took the booth space last minute from a photographer friend that had to bow out, and I had a great time planning it all out and prepping the booth.  I will share the booth itself shortly, but for Lovely Bloom Friday, I am sharing the main arrangement that I put together. It included some gorgeous orange poppies that match my logo and my vintage wedding booth design.  Happy Friday!

I have been so excited to share images from this wedding.  Love these two and their gorgeous little girls, Finley and Lola.  Congratulations Angie and Nick!  The wedding was at the urban and quaint Mulvaney’s Building and Loan in Midtown Sacramento.  I love this location!  It’s definitely for the urban couple. And if you enjoy fine cuisine, you’ll love this venue as well.  The ceremony was on their outdoor patio, between the old bank building and their special events building.  I LOVED all of Angie’s DIY details.  She made all of the mercury glass pieces on her tables… and there were a LOT.  Everything tied in so beautifully, and she did such a fabulous job.  I will let these photos speak for themselves!

So I am really trying to be more active in blogging and sharing wedding related tidbits with my readers.  Part of why I’m doing this is that I want to share with you a little more about myself, the girl behind the camera!  I am going to be making a point of not just blogging weddings, but things related to weddings that I love.  I’m not the strongest writer, so forgive me for that.  I hope that you are entertained and inspired by what you read!

I’m starting with Lovely Bloom Friday.  One thing that I absolutely love and adore, is FLOWERS!  There is nothing like a visit to the Farmer’s Market and coming home with a bundle of gorgeous blossoms wrapped in paper to unfold and arrange.  I love the feeling that they give me, while they brighten up my kitchen table.  I have taken up some floral design as a little hobby, and I want so share, on this Floral Friday, a few recent creations.

My first creation is from my trip to the local Sacramento floral market today.  I am showing my photography at a wedding show in Napa this Sunday, and I am going to be putting together a few arrangements for my booth.  My logo colors are orange and tiffany blue, so I’m incorporating lots of white and orange flowers.  I will be putting all of that together tomorrow, and sharing images next Friday!    I could not resist these gorgeous, delicate yellow ranunculus blooms.  I did put this little vase together today to brighten up my morning.

More coming soon!

What a beautiful day for a wedding at the Auburn Valley Golf Club, and a totally sweet couple. I enjoyed getting to know these two. Annalee told me that neither of them was very fond of having their picture taken, but they did such a great job for photos! It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. They did choose a first look, which I love! We had more than enough time dedicated to portraits for this reason. Thank you both for having me!

I will be exhibiting at the Napa Valley Luxury Wedding Show this weekend, and would love to see any Napa brides planning their 2013 or 2014 weddings!  You can register at their site – www.luxuryweddingshows.com.  I do have a few free passes available as well.

Updated as of 10/3/12 – Photos of the booth!  My sweet hubby attended the show with me to assist me with set up, and to charm the show guests.  We had a nice and steady stream of brides throughout the show.. it was great!  He did sneak away for a tasting at Charles Krug… he worked for it.  It was really a great day because in addition to a great show, we were able to make a date night out of it!  Our kids were with Grandma, and the show ended at 4pm.  We tasted at a few wineries and then headed to Brix for dinner on their beautiful outdoor patio.  It was a great day!

The booth!  I love how it turned out… I used my logo colors.  My lovely sign was made by my friend Darci at Signs Plus.  And everything else pretty much came from my kitchen, office and house.  I did the fresh flowers, because I love doing flowers.  :)   It was great meeting all of the brides.

We did fit in a visit to Castello di Amoroso before the show.  WOW!  We didn’t have time to do the tour, but I want to go back and do that.  I do have to say that I would love to do an engagement session here.  It was really a cool place!  My husband is a very good model, don’t you think?  :)

After the show, we tasted at a few great wineries, and then had dinner at Brix.  It was really a great meal!  The one bad thing about having my high end professional camera, is having random people take pictures with it.  First, I panic a little that they might drop it (thank goodness it is insured), and then it is not really easy for a non-professional to focus it because I use “focus points”… so its not really an automatic thing that people know how to use.  And I shoot in manual, so if i just hand it to someone without changing the settings properly, it probably won’t turn out.  Lucky for me, we had a few friendly people that were able to snap a few shots and make my camera work.

I love these two! They were married at Wine & Roses in Lodi last year, and Robby was VERY sick on the wedding day. I was only able to get literally, a few shots, of the two of them together on their wedding day. They got back into their wedding day attire today, at Wine and Roes in Lodi, and they are finally getting their formal portraits.   Happy 1 Year Anniversary you two! I love sharing all of these milestones with you and your amazing group of friends! ♥

I have known Tori for about 5 years, and I’m so happy and excited for her and Matt.  I was so thrilled when she called and asked me to shoot her wedding.  It was a very unique situation.  They decided to hold a “surprise wedding”.  Guests thought that they were attending an engagement party and dinner.  When they arrived, Matt’s brother announced their big news – that the wedding was happening right here and now!  It was so great to be able to capture the day for them.  With the unique situation that they had, they didn’t want to spend time for formal portraits of the two of them, so we scheduled a “Day After” session, which took place a week later.  I loved this!  Photographer’s heaven… we spent two hours wandering the streets of Midtown Sacramento.  I scouted out some great midtown locations, including a gorgeous ivy wall, city walls with amazing texture and the Crocker Museum.  This was so great, and such a relaxed way to capture portraits of the two of them.  I wish more clients would do this!  It is a great way to get back into your dress ladies, and to really spend some relaxed, non pressured time reliving your big day.  On to sharing!

Tori and Matt had their ceremony and reception in the Capital Ballroom on the 16th Floor of the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Sacramento.  The evening view was the California State Capital.  Gorgeous!  It really was a stunning view.

Now, onto the “Day After” session images.  Seriously, LOVE!

I had to share this beautiful Indian wedding, that I shot alongside the talented Ruby Rideout this weekend at Ruby Hill, Palm Event Center in Pleasanton.  She invited me to second shoot with her, and this is now my fourth Indian Wedding that I have photographed.  I am excited to shoot more Indian Weddings in the future!  When my season slows down I will blog my photography from the full wedding day, but for now I wanted to share just a few from toward the end of this couple’s ceremony.  So beautiful.

Soooo excited and happy for this beautiful family!  I had such a great time at their wedding… there is a group of four ladies, and I have photographed ALL of their newborn babies.  And they were all at this wedding.  It is so fun for me to see all of the babies growing, and this gorgeous couple getting married… and to be a part of this group of friends.  SO happy for you Angie and Nick, it was a truly beautiful day.  Just a few for now, full blog post coming soon!
